    The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, has emphasized the need for a true humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza during a briefing with top diplomats. He called for the world to not turn away from the suffering of civilians and stressed the importance of releasing all hostages. The meeting, held in New York, aimed to address the devastation caused by Israel’s offensive, the return of Palestinian hostages, and the establishment of a secure future for both Israel and Palestine.

    Indonesia: Aid Window “Too Narrow and Too Fragile”

    The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, welcomed the adoption of Council resolution 2712 and the humanitarian pauses. However, she cautioned that the humanitarian pause is not sufficient and called for a durable ceasefire. She emphasized the importance of the two-State solution and urged the international community to support the Palestinian people.

    Jordan: End “Flagrant Injustice” of Israeli Occupation

    The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, stated that ending the Israeli occupation of Palestine is crucial for ensuring peace in the region. He called on the Security Council to support a ceasefire and bring an end to the aggression. He also urged the recognition of the Palestinian independent State with Jerusalem as its capital.

    Turkey: Swimming in “Untrusted Waters”

    The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, warned against the paralysis of the Security Council and the need to rectify the historic injustice inflicted on the Palestinians. He expressed concern about the potential for social upheaval caused by the atrocities committed by Israel. He stressed the importance of finding a resolution to the conflict to prevent a catastrophic future.

    Egypt: No More “Empty Statements”

    The Foreign Minister of Egypt, Sameh Hassan Shoukry Selim, called for an end to the occupation and conflict. He criticized the double standards of the international community and urged the Security Council to support a resolution recognizing the State of Palestine. He emphasized the need for concrete actions to preserve trust in the multilateral system.

    Qatar: Take “Real Measures” to Cement Peace

    The Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people and called for an end to the bloodshed. He highlighted Qatar’s efforts in negotiating a pause in the fighting and the release of hostages. He stressed the importance of international humanitarian law and the establishment of a Palestinian State.

    Russia: West Shows “Blatant Double Standards” over Gaza

    The Russian Ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, emphasized the devastating impact of the conflict on civilians, particularly children. He questioned the double standards exhibited by Western delegations towards the Palestinian people and praised the efforts of humanitarian workers on the ground. He called for concrete actions to address the situation in Gaza.
