Sony Corp. announced this week that it will remove X compatibility from its Playstation gaming consoles.
By the end of this month, PlayStation 4 and 5 users will no longer be able to upload clips from their gaming sessions and post them easily to X.
“This includes the ability to view any content published on X on PS5/PS4, and the ability to post and view content, trophies, and other gameplay-related activities on X directly from PS5/PS4,” the tech giant said in a statement.
Users who want to upload gameplay footage to X will need to first upload the files to a separate device and transfer the video to X.
Sony is the latest platform to remove X integration after Elon Musk took over the social media network late last year.
In April, Microsoft removed X functionality from its Xbox gaming consoles. In the same month, Microsoft also announced the removal of X from its advertising platform.
While the exact reason Sony removed the functionality is not clear, Microsoft’s decision in April came after X increased the price of its application programming interface.
