Opening monologue of the week

Speaking of gifts: This weekend marked the fifth time that Emma Stone has hosted “S.N.L.” which meant that she could now be inducted into the show’s vaunted Five-Timers Club and receive her ceremonial jacket.
Stone didn’t get the elaborate, celebrity-stocked welcome that sometimes accompanies these inductions. But she was congratulated onstage by the fellow club honoree Tina Fey, who pointed out that, at 35, Stone is now its youngest member. (“And,” Fey jokingly added, “I am the second youngest at 53.”)
They were joined by a third club member, Candice Bergen, who said that she had established the club’s women’s section and outfitted it with “showers, a locker room, a big portrait with the eyes cut out so Martin Short can peek in.” Bergen said it had “started out as a small, quiet place to cry. But over the years it became a big, luxurious place to cry.”
Stone rifled through the pockets of her new jacket and found a joint, leading Bergen to observe that it was probably the jacket of another club member, Woody Harrelson. Then Stone said she found a vaccination card, to which Fey responded, “Oh, then it’s definitely not Woody’s.”
Music video of the week
Our first reaction to this filmed segment was to think, oh, what a lovely singing voice Emma Stone has, and why don’t her films utilize it more often? Then we thought, oh, right, she won an Oscar for her role in “La La Land,” which was literally a musical. (Give us a break: There was a slightly bigger development that overshadowed all our other memories of that year’s Oscars.)
And then we thought: Boy, we really hope Stone and the “S.N.L.” cast members were wearing body stockings for this delightfully silly segment about morose New Yorkers who get over their depression by engaging in grimy activities — riding on the back of a sanitation truck, or picking leaves out of sewer gratings — while completely naked. At least their body coverings (if they did indeed wear them) are pixelated in the video.
