FORT MYERS, Fla. — A 6-year-old boy who was supposed to fly from Philadelphia to visit his grandmother in southwest Florida for Christmas ended up 160 miles away in Orlando after being put on the wrong plane.
When the grandmother, Maria Ramos, arrived at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers to welcome her grandson, she was informed that he was not on the Spirit Airlines flight. Ramos approached a flight attendant and asked about her missing grandson, only to be told that the attendant had not seen any children on the flight.
Ramos later received a call from her grandson, who informed her that he had landed at the airport in Orlando. Spirit Airlines released a statement acknowledging the mistake, stating that the boy was under the care and supervision of an airline employee throughout the incident. The airlines apologized to the family and assured that an internal investigation would be conducted.
