Dr Ron Daniels, the CEO of the charity, expressed his concerns about the lack of attention given to sepsis amidst the ongoing pandemic and the already strained NHS. He acknowledged that some progress had been made in the years following the report, but emphasized that there is still ample room for improvement.
Dr Daniels highlighted that sepsis, a life-threatening condition caused by the body’s response to an infection, requires immediate medical attention. However, he lamented that sepsis is not receiving the priority it deserves, given the current circumstances.
The CEO expressed his grave concerns over the lower priority being given to sepsis in the wake of the pandemic, as well as the burden already placed on the NHS. He stressed the need for increased attention and resources to combat sepsis effectively.
Dr Daniels emphasized that despite the progress made in the years since the report, there is still significant room for improvement in sepsis care. He called for renewed efforts to address sepsis and ensure that it receives the attention it deserves, particularly during these challenging times.
