One patient was found lying in urine-soaked sheets, highlighting a significant deterioration in the standard of care at Scholars Mews Care Home. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) conducted an unannounced inspection in October after receiving reports about safeguarding issues and staffing levels.

    The CQC’s findings were alarming, prompting immediate action from Avery Healthcare, the organization responsible for operating the care home. The company expressed its commitment to addressing the concerns raised during the inspection.

    The CQC’s inspection revealed a range of serious safeguarding concerns at Scholars Mews Care Home. The discovery of a patient left lying in urine-soaked sheets was particularly disturbing, indicating a severe decline in the quality of care provided. This incident exemplifies the urgent need for improvements within the facility.

    The inspection was prompted by reports of potential safeguarding issues and inadequate staffing levels. Scholars Mews Care Home had failed to meet the required standards, leading to its placement in special measures. The CQC’s unannounced visit in October aimed to assess the extent of the concerns and ensure the well-being of the residents.

    Following the inspection, Avery Healthcare, the organization responsible for the care home, swiftly responded to the CQC’s findings. They implemented immediate measures to address the concerns raised, demonstrating their commitment to rectifying the situation.
