JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon believes that Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has the potential to bring the country together and boost the economy, according to a report.
A banking source told Axios that Dimon has had several private conversations with Haley, indicating a growing enthusiasm for the former U.N. ambassador.
The source also stated that Dimon admires Haley’s understanding of the economy and her belief in the collaboration between business and government to stimulate economic growth.
Haley, who studied accounting, has previously expressed the need for an accountant in the White House.
“I think it’s time for an accountant in the White House,” she said during a GOP presidential debate in August, emphasizing the need to stop spending and borrowing.
Haley, a former South Carolina governor, has been steadily rising in the polls and currently holds the second-place position in some surveys. Dimon’s endorsement could potentially help her gain more support as the number of GOP candidates decreases.
In a recent NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll in Iowa, former President Donald Trump held the first-place position with 43%, while Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis were tied for second with 16%.
The GOP candidate pool is shrinking. South Carolina Gov. Tim Scott announced on Fox News that he would be suspending his campaign shortly after participating in the third debate.
The Washington Times has reached out to Haley’s campaign for comment.
