Around $7,000 Australian Dollars (£3,750) worth of seafood and meat was stolen, South Australian Police said.

Shopkeeper Mick Lamond said the men were likely sorting the stock and putting it into a vehicle.

Mr Lamond told Australian media he thought the culprits were “locals to the area”.

He added: “The trailer was locked when I left [on Thursday night] so when we opened it up this morning I just thought ‘what on earth is going on?'”

As Christmas approaches, Mr Lamond said “it’s business as usual” as he managed to restock what was stolen.

“Customers have been understanding if we’re short on something”, he added.

Seafood is a popular option for Australians during the festive period, especially barbecued prawns.
