A man has been arrested in Leicestershire after a British woman was found dead at her home in Italy. The suspect, a 74-year-old British man, was detained on Wednesday night in Shepshed on suspicion of murdering Michele Faiers, according to the police.
The Leicestershire police have not released the name of the suspect, who is currently in custody. Local media reports that Ms Faiers, 66, was discovered dead near the town of Casoli on Wednesday morning.
Authorities in the United Kingdom and Italy are cooperating in the investigation, stated Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh. He also mentioned that the family of Ms Faiers has requested privacy during this time.
Detectives from the East Midlands special operations unit are working closely with the Italian police and the UK Foreign Office to gather further information.
