Amazon Prime Video has secured the streaming rights to “Sound of Freedom,” and the movie will be available on the platform on December 26th.
“Sound of Freedom” tells the true story of former Department of Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard and his efforts to combat child sex trafficking through his nonprofit organization, Operation Underground Railroad.
The movie is currently available for purchase or rental on the Amazon platform. On December 26th, it will be free to stream for Amazon Prime Video subscribers in the U.S., according to Variety.
In “Sound of Freedom,” Tim Ballard is portrayed by Jim Caviezel, known for his role as Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson’s “Passion of the Christ.”
“I hope that people have the courage to go see it… Putting our head down in the sand is not going to solve this whole thing. Our love for God’s children has to be greater than our fear of evil,” said Caviezel in an interview with the Washington Times.
The faith-based movie has been successful, grossing approximately $242 million worldwide, according to Variety.
Around $5 million was crowdfunded to distribute the movie after Disney dropped it. In light of its success, Angel Studios, the team behind the film, paid back those who donated $1.20 for every dollar they gave.
The movie also gained attention in conservative politics, with former President Donald Trump privately screening the movie in July, according to the Guardian.
